Anglo-Italian family looking to rent flat/house

We have heard very favourable reports about Lewes and together with a friend and her 2 children we are looking for 1or 2 flats or 1 house to rent from mid June to end July, (possibly with a view to moving to Lewes permanently one day) while my poor husband remains in Italy at work. The trouble is we will probably be unable to come over to inspect the property before we move in. Does anybody have any suggestions about how we could proceed - or is this a hopeless venture?

You could contact a local letting agent and have him email pictures to you. You could place an ad in the 'accommodation wanted' section of the Lewes edition of the Friday-Ad - check their website for how to do this. However, you'll find it very difficult to rent for just 6 weeks from mid-June to the end of July, although nothing is ever hopeless.
