Pretty well anything I've looked at buying on Amazon I have found cheaper on eBay. Service and returns policy as good as well. It also feels more like you are buying direct from a smaller supplier rather than a big company that will not pay tax on its profits. Any experiences anyone?

Absolutely. Sky high prices on Amazon plus delivery charges plus they avoid paying taxes. Wish I owned that company.

Nevillman, omg... Mick Symes. He's absurd. He's ridiculous. He's Adolf Hitler. I joined at 1000 and was censored at 1100. All I was trying to do was spread the word that our MP is busy voting in favour of a lowering of standards for food.

He did send me a polite message saying that it wasn't going to be allowed because the subject had already been discussed once. What a knob

I think he's a man with a very inflated sense of his own importance. Probably sees himself as a custodian of decency and rational thinking in these troubled times rather than the petty minded little man that he clearly is. He really should not be moderating an ostensibly public forum. He has upset a lot of people according to lewes chat as well as us Mark. While I don't care what symes thinks about me or anything else, I do care very much about being censored like that.
Might just add at this point, to save me having to sign in again later that I really don't mind if blatant, Tom and anyone else decides to use this as an opportunity to speculate on my opinions, career or personality. Whatever you say will just make me laugh.

So, of course I had a look to see what had been said about the issue and, of course, it hadn't been covered.

You know I hate to be pedantic but to return to the thread, does eBay pay taxes? As far as I can see they are both globalist multinational corporations and regardless of their intentions, can only undermine local economies. Thinking globally and acting locally,in the best progressive tradition, I can only conclude that as far as minimum use of fossil fuels is concerned, the shorter the delivery distance~ the better. Thus these international organisations are utterly counter productive in any attempt to evolve a less polluted future.
To get back to the main point, eBay is better than Amazon, which I have boycotted except as a last resort for something otherwise unobtainable.

It's nice to be able to agree with you Tom. I feel quite certain that Ebay's balance sheets will show that they haven't made a penny in profit anywhere, anytime.

Personally I don't get the Lewes present group. It is ruled by a dictator who seems, other than being a member of a bonfire soc has very little to do with Lewes.

Good point Tom and you are right about keeping to the point of the thread. eBay do seem to be tax avoiders as well. eBay seem to charge the seller less than Amazon and I know Amazon can make it hard for sellers. Whether eBay sellers also have problems I don't know and whether it is easier for the government to collect tax from the sellers using eBay I also don't know. Both companies purport to be ethical but clearly aren't and to be fair, consuming all the stuff I consume isn't very ethical either. Still cheaper on eBay and I'm not constantly having to avoid signing up for prime.
It was too tempting to join in a bit of symes bashing when it was offered and it's always good to see but if I have anything to add on it I will put it in the right thread.
