Does anyone know who owns the allotments at the bottom of the Malling Down nature reserve, behind Wheatsheaf Gardens off Malling Street - and how to go about getting on the waiting list...? they're not Town Council ones.
And for that matter what about the ones at Earwig Corner?

The ones in the Coombe belong to Sussex wildlife trust.
Don’t know about Earwig corner.
It might be of interest to you that Ringmer parish council have plots by the electricity sub station mid way between Ringmer & Lewes.

If you are not American, the expression is "green fingers".

Don't you care about the Americanisation of our language, Mr Greenbaum?

Again you derail a thread pedant. You offer nothing but take everything. You are a self obsessed bore. Not everybody is perfect as you. I expect you were a very selfish lover.

I do care, pedant. But I personally don't consider fingers/thumb to be a bad Americanisation (sic?) The worst one I heard was "editorializing"

Thanks pedant. Unfortunately you missed my 'amusing' reference to a song by American rap group Cypress Hill about the cultivation of cannabis, which would clearly be impossible at an allotment in East Sussex. I am more interested in growing carrots and potatoes with my green fingers. I look forward to hearing your opinions on the 1990s west-coast rap scene, unless you have something more relevant to offer...

Sorry to have raised so many hackles in a perfectly serious thread. I apologise. As far as skin conditions go, I can assure you there is no barber's rash lurking under my recently grown beard. And I am pretty sure there are many pedants on this Forum. I am not the only one.
To go back to the thread, I have to confess I have a rather jaundiced attitude to allotments since before moving to Lewes a couple of years ago I had an allotment in Brighton, on which I lavished a great deal of money and care, only to find that whenever anything was ready for harvesting it would have already been stolen by the time I was able to get there. But I suppose that's Brighton! It surely wouldn't happen in Lewes.

Thanks for replies - but that email for Earwig Corner doesn't seem to be working. Anyone know if there there contact details posted on a wall somewhere if I wander up there?
