When people did that in 2010 they got a Tory government propped up by Lib Dems who were enthusiastic enablers of austerity. Jo 'I'm going to be PM' Swinson was a gleeful minister. The Lib Dems are a nasty opportunistic little sect and will go to the oblivion they deserve.

Successive Tory governments have been making cuts now for almost 10 years....we have just seen slower growth, and an even more divided society due to widening inequality (and an ever increasing debt anyway despite these numerous government saving sprees). There are plenty of industrialised, successful countries that adopt a higher taxation economy, that reinvests back into its public services....our country has plenty of wiggle room to operate similar models.
And even if you don't feel Labours plans are entirely deliverable, even if they deliver 1/4 of what they promised, it is far better than the alternative of the status quo and a never-ending row with the EU.
