Hello,
Im hoping to park my car in Lewes overnight and collect it late the next day.
I used to park in Brooke Street, which was about £2 a day with no restrictions. However, when I look online it says its maximum 8 hours. Is this true? Or is it just because the charge time is 8 hours.
I do not mind paying, just dont want a ticket as parking enforcements changed and ive not understood.
Thank you!

If you aren't sure don't risk it. Park in one of the areas in Lewes with free on-street parking. Malling is a great option as it is close to the town, no worries about the car being left overnight and there is free parking in abundance.

I have heard there are 4 not-very-well-known cheap all day spaces in the town centre. If you drive between Waitrose and the Volunteer pub they are on your right by Laura Ashley.

Pinwell Road car park is free overnight. Ignore the suggestion above.

I suggest you check out online the railway station car park. It is one of the cheapest in Lewes for a long stay. If you arrive at a council carpark late in the afternoon, you only have to pay up till 5pm. If you arrive at,say, 16.30 and pay for three hours, your ticket will have an expiry time of two and a half hours after chargeable time the next day.
This may not suit if you wish to stay until late the following day, however.
I hope this has been of some help.

Thank you for all your responses.
I will look into Pinwell as well as Brook Street again - I think Parkopedia's just inputted the incorrect info as I dont think the signs say there is a maxiumum stay, just a fee for parking up to 8 hours. (Im looking to arrive about 9pm, and reutrn about 6pm the next day - so hopefully the full day charge will cover me).
Thank you!

You’ll be able to park your car from 9pm till 6pm as long as you’re paying the full duration (usually 9am-5pm). Just put the money in for the amount of time you need and it won’t register the ticket until the chargeable hours. If you’re unsure then you can do a test run.
Depending on where you’re going then you could just park somewhere that is always free (areas of Malling, Winterbourne, Landport and Neville all have free parking - just double check as they all have chargeable areas too)

Malling is free but remember residents do like to park there cars reasonably near to their house - the police staff already park on mass in the streets of malling
