African Djembe for Beginners 8-Week Course @ Lewes Community Kitchen
"Be Rhythm, Be Happy!"
This introduction to Djembe drumming will teach the fundamental skills to set you off on your rhythm journey. This includes the basic sounds, hand co-ordination, and basic ensemble arrangements to experience holding space playing group percussion. The aim is to empower students to enjoy the beauty of African rhythm.
Instruments are provided or bring your own.
Class sizes are limited and pre-booking is recommended.

PAUSE: Introduction To Digital Photography @ Depot cinema
Practical 4 week course in digital photography.
4 Wednesday evenings 19:00 – 20:30:
29 June, 6 July, 13 July & 20 July
Cost: £70
Whether you are a beginner or want to improve your skills, this four week course will leave you confident taking images you are proud to share; and just in time for your summer holidays.
Led by Kate Swanson, a qualified teacher and working photographer, who will fully guide you through operating your digital camera as well as understanding the fundamentals of photography; using films for creative inspiration along the way. There will be opportunities to ask questions, as well as lots of practical exercises to take home.
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN:
Aperture, Shutter Speed & ISO
Manual vs Autofocus + focal points.
Compositional techniques
White Balance.
Techniques such as panning, zoom burst, painting with light.
The digital workflow (capture, organise, edit and share).
Equipment, including different lenses.
YOU WILL NEED YOUR OWN DSLR CAMERA. Please email kate@swanson.me with the make and model number if you are unsure if your camera is suitable.

"Be Rhythm, Be Happy!"
For Improvers of All Ages 14yrs+!
We play djembe and dunun with hands or sticks, learn sound technique, rhythm basics, call + response, breaks and solo phrases, in the context of West-African ensemble rhythms.
We aim to empower students to enjoy the beauty of African rhythm with ensemble play on their chosen instrument.
Instruments are provided or bring your own.
Class sizes are limited and pre-booking is recommended.
