Winter of the World




Lewes Town Council presents Winter of the World A concert to commemorate World War 1
The Winter of the World returns to commemorate the end of World War 1. In 2014 Helen Glavin devised a piece on behalf of Lewes Town Council to acknowledge 100 years since the start of WW1. Four years later there is a chance to experience this sold out event one last time. Joined by The Baroque Collective Singers, conducted by John Hancorn, and The Everyman Ensemble. Soloists include Susan Moate violin, Oscar Morgan tenor and John Hancorn baritone. Pianists include Nancy Cooley and Helen Glavin and there are readings from Jonathan Cullen and Helen Glavin. The Winter of the World includes music, poetry and archive photographs projected onto the cinema screen. Tickets are free of charge but limited due to capacity. To guarantee entry tickets are available from the Town Hall and from The All Saints Centre.Tickets are given on a first come first serve basis.
Licenced bar available. Charity buckets will be present for the Mayor’s charities: League of Friends of Lewes Victoria Hospital, Prince’s Trust, Sussex Prisoners’ Families and Chestnut Tree House.
