Echoes Interactive Walks at Cuckmere Haven

Cuckmere: A Portrait on the Echoes App:
experience the orchestral music inspired by this
breathtaking landscape as you walk through it.

Eastbourne-based filmmaker Cesca Easton and Lewes-based composer/conductor Ed Hughes traced the changing moods of the Cuckmere, from its source in the High Weald to the sea at Cuckmere Haven, in a stunning thirty-minute film with orchestral score, commissioned, premiered and recorded live at the Brighton Festival in 2018.

Thanks to the Echoes Interactive Sound Walks App and Peter John Eyres of Immersive Networks, visitors to the Cuckmere Valley and Haven can now experience Ed Hughes’s opulent and constantly changing orchestral score while they explore the footpaths down the river to the sea. The free App uses GPS to trigger eight extracts from the score, taking visitors on an immersive audio journey from the depths of winter to high summer in beautiful and evocative music as they walk.

Accessing the music is easy. Download the free Echoes Interactive Sound Walks App and the free Cuckmere walk on a phone or tablet, use the interactive map to find the music and listen with headphones. There are many paths to explore; the App includes suggested routes and travel information.
