Interestingly, we read in the Sussex Express that the Landport Residents Association want yet ANOTHER skate park and youth shelter. They just had a lottery fund for one already, and it was built a while back. Now the field is going to be taken over by unruly youths whilst people walk their dogs. If it's going to be like the one at malling, covered in grafitti, then it will make a beautiful spot look ugly!!!

I like the graffiti on the Malling skate park.

May I raise this question? If we already have these skate parks in Lewes, why there are kids (many young adults) causing an irritation in our streets? I do not mean passing through, but actually up down, up down, making a terrible racket?

The park in Landport is very well used and hardly any trouble happens there. You'll get Graffitti from the crappiest slums to to notch London suberbs. There are miles and miles of fields for people to walk their dogs.
We get no noise, no hastle and nothing but happy kids at present.

Iam glad to hear the kids enjoy themselves on Landport. I am no spoil sport, but please, ithose of you who have kids with skateboards .ask them to use the skate board parks, not residential streets.

I agree with you Stig Of The Dump. Plenty of lovely walks for dogs in Lewes. Leave the areas for kids. Dogs and kids not a good mix especially if not cleared up behind them.

There are two kids around here that skateboard up and down in our road and neither of them even live here. When they decided to do this at 7.30 on a Sunday morning, I felt compelled to go out and have a word.
One of them lives in Mount Harry Road. They were obviously too chicken to skat board down there!

Ah, but it just means the dog poo will be more concentrated in the remaining area, and thus harder to avoid!
I hate people who don't pick up after their dogs. They cause of a lot of anti-dog prejudice, in much the way that the rude and irresponsible cyclists do for the sensible ones.

Top Tip!
When I lived in Cliffe some years back we had some kids skating along Foundry Lane at stupid o'clock and some dog mess from several of those anti-social "baby-eating crocodile dogs" that chavs own. We solved both issues by placing some sand on the areas they both used and both went away!...simples!

seriously, are skateboards that much of a problem ? cars are noisier and at least kids keep fit using them.

As a child who lives in Lewes i dont think a town at its size should only have 2 skateparks! Skateboarding is a great way to get out the house and forget about all your toubles and most importantly it sets an aim for us... Its most likely that most of these complaints are made from old pensioners who sit on their ass drinking tea allday. I was skateboarding with my friend in a carpark that was completly empty on a saturday afternoon. The police then came and said that someone had reported me for making a large racket ! I dont understand how an adult would waste the polices time like that as they could kindly ask me to leave the area and i would off! As Lewes is a old town its quite hard to skateboard anywhere apart from the smooth skateparks... Therefor i think that more skateparks should be set up in lewes posibly a concrete one like the one in uckfield that was rather cheap to make as it was only concrete but better to skate! This could also be made in a quite area like the railway land!
Thanks for your time,
Nick
