Has anyone eaten at Shelleys Hotel recently. I was there the other day and had an amazing meal. I heard they have a new chef is this true? Can anyone recommend anywhere else in Lewes for a good meal. I cant stand the chain restaurants so please dont even mention them.

Lazattis, went with my family twice in last 6 weeks and wonderfully found faultless service, v.reasonable bill and best of all superb/fresh/tasty meals. Stupidly have been filling P.xpress coffers up til then. Result since, full tummies and smiles all round. Makes the Veal cheating co. look like a road side van on the A12. For those who never venture far from E. Sussex that means "not very appetising with desolate surroundings". Capiche?

Can heartily recommend the Pelham arms for sunday lunches and had a lovely set menu lunch at Pelham house hotel recently for £15 a head. Have been to real eating company and love their fish soup - absolutely delicious and filling enough to have as a single course lunch.

Lazatti's seems to have returned to its excellent old form. There was a patch when we stopped going there but giving it a try again we were very happy.

The white hart are you serious?
That place is a real dive and should be avoided at all costs esprcially the toilets.

Let's lure them all into the White Hart and have the nice places to ourselves. It's hard enough as it is to get a table at the Shanaz

The White Hart??? Its difficult to tell the difference between the toilets and the kitchen I would imagine. I find that the generic Italian plague of restaurants is ridiculous. I know the food is fresh and the bill is very reasonable, BUT think what it is....Pasta and Pizza. I mean any monkey with a stove and a pot can make good pasta. I think dining out should be about having what you cant make at home. I definitely think people should start making use of the independent fine dining places around town. If you want generic italian, get a pot noodle and stay at home.

The Volunteer has one of the best Sunday roasts in Lewes and the live music at 4pm is a perfect wind down. That place has changed dramatically

DFE / Demon 2...Your attempts at trying to throw us off your scent by using capitals hasn't worked.
Will you please try to say something nice instead of lighting the blue touchpaper and standing well back?
