Don't be a total tool Frank, how "nice" a place is various depending on who you're asking. For example I might not enjoy living in a street of swingers, but the fat ugly bloke who lives opposite me quite likes it.
I also don't like living in a street of "dealers" but my 21 year old nephew loves it.
I'll give you the predicted scores:
0 to the best roads in Lewes (as the Lewes forums is far beneath them so they won't vote)
-20 for Landport (as most of the forum user seem to give this as the stock answer (even though they've never lived there)).
The facts are:
Centre of town, you cant park.
One of the council estates, better parking, bigger houses, more privacy.
Anywhere else, over priced and highly sought after.
If you choose one of the council estates go with the one that is closest to the exit you take out of Lewes, Lewes is a complete mare to get across during rush hour (and now that the flood defences and other work are starting at the Phoenix it'll only get worse).

Nevill. Great. Been here 20 years. Will probably be here another 20.
Landport. Great for swingers and vandals.
Malling. Great for flooding.

To F Rank ed. How do YOU know where I've lived and not lived? Why do you assume I've never lived in Landport or Malling? Well you're wrong. 3 years in Pellbrook Road and another 3 in Old Malling Way. So there. Don't make assumptions so readily.
By the way. It's cue. Not queue.

I assume nothing, your post said what it said: "Nevill. Great. Been here 20 years. Will probably be here another 20.", maybe you should have been a bit more specific?
If you've lived in Nevill for 20 years how is your opinion of either Malling or Landport more relevant than someone who's never lived there - if you're living there now (or in recent memory) offer an opinion, if not you do not know what it's like to live there.
From what I've heard Nevill is no better than either (certainly there's as many posts on here complaining about kids/parties/noise/neighbours/rubbish etc as there is for Landport of Malling), you definitely have rose tinted glasses on.

Lewes is a nice place to live.
The only drawback is the large number of residents who are stuck up their own backside and think they and Lewes are superior to the rest of the UK and especially superior to Ringmer and Seaford.
Thankfully they're easy to avoid for the most part by staying away from streets with lots of big houses - most notably the ones that have the Grauniad delivered

I live in one of those big expensive houses in Lewes being spoken about on this thread.
We certainly do not consider ourselves to be superior to Ringmer, as Ringmer also has a lot of big, expensive houses. My Aunt & Uncle live in one of them and they much prefer it because of the peace and quiet there, and my husband and I could not have afforded to buy the house they have bought.
I can't comment on Seaford as I've never been there.
I am a little tired of people on this forum making sweeping statements about those of us living in the more expensive areas being snobby, or thinking we're superior. It is not true. Having enough money to buy a large expensive house does not mean that one looks down on someone who lives in a smaller, less expensive house. I was brought up not to judge others based on their house, income, the way they look or speak, etc. and I teach my children the same.
Please don't display such attitudes of inverse snobbery. It is rather hypocrical.

I quite like Rotten Row or Cuilfail but not enough cash sadly. Any place can have dreadful neighbours. Neville is a lovely spot but residents have extended their houses to death so very few garages now and mostly street parking. Your budget will dictate your choices. Know a few people very happy in Landport and Malling - and Ringmer as well.

I have lived in Nevill, Landport and Winterbourne. Nevill I lived in for slightly longer than the other 2 but this is because I was living with the parents here.
Landport - only issue I had was parking
Winterbourn - smashed conservatory window
Neville - stolen car and graffiti car
So, Landport has been the least damaging in terms of replacing stuff! They are all pretty much a much of a muchness though

I’ve lived in three different streets around the centre of town and in Malling. The town is handy for shops, pubs etc but mostly terraced houses and I’d personally rather be in a detached house or semi. I wouldn’t live in a listed building again because it’s was grief and I’d rather be away from the traffic and the noisy people. As a ‘place’ it’s fine. Some nice people, easy access to the downs and not far from town. I expect that people who are happy in Landport or Nevill would say the same. It all depends what you’re looking.

I love our little street. The houses are tiny and suffer from damp but we know all of our neighbours and everyone can drop off each others kids with anybody else if the need arises and everybody watches out for the more elderly residents just like in the "good old days". Parking is a bit of an issue but I wouldn't move anywhere else. I won't tell you where it is in case you wanted to move here.

I do visit Landport and Malling relatives regularly so I know a bit of what goes on. I will admit I made up the bit about swingers though.
Have a nice day.
