Just driven past the station and yet again someone was parked on the white zigzags on the approach to the zebra crossing thereby obscuring a clear view of the crossing. Anywhere else this would be highly illegal. Why is it acceptable in Lewes?

It's true: anywhere else it would be an automatic fine and 3 points on your licence, yet there's at least one (often two) vehicles parked there at least half the times I pass.

Either lots of drivers have got it in for me or people aren't stopping at this crossing. The other day a car driver sounded his horn at me when I was half way across. If you don't go to step out most of them don't bother to stop.

Take a photo of their numberplate and report them. Agree though, we could do with the police being a bit more proactive about bad or selfish driving in this town. At the end of a day a pedestrian won't cause much harm to a car, but a car can easily kill or seriously injur a pedestrian. It's bad that people behave this way in cars. I'd say big car, small **nis, but I've seen women drive this way too, and for what? Just to try and prove that they're more important than anyone else, as if any of us believed that.
We need traffic regulations enforcement by the police to make any difference.

I'd guess that one of the reasons some of vehicles aren't seeing you, Old Malling, is because of the illegal parking on the zig-zags.

I did take some snaps on my phone and sent them to Operation Crackdown. Nothing whatsoever seems to have happened, which is a shame when the photos showed three different vehicles with no drivers in them and their hazard warning lights going.

Take picture and report to Operation Crackdown, on line. Cars do not have a god given right to be on the road, it's a public space. Something happens to the nicest of people when they get behind a wheel, they turn in monsters.

Isn't there a lot of old busy bodies in Lewes, with nothing much to do ?

No, not really. A safe crossing at the station has been desperately needed for years. Now that we have one it would be nice if people didn't illegally park on it and render it as dangerous as there being none. Possibly more dangerous actually, because pedestrians might expect to have priority as the law allows.

I think you might find that as the rail company has not yet allowed a traffic order around the station so none of the markings are legal.

Interesting point Harold. Maybe something like the unenforceable yellow lines in Hailsham ?
