Hi Foodie, yes alas Fred has gone but there is a new couple taken over and as well as a more modest 'British Pub' menu there is now Jamaican food on the specials board. They did a very well attended Hello to the locals and the Jamaican food was very tasty and I like the sound of Caribbean BBQ in the summer.

New ownership, The Jamacian food is delicious . good to see the old staff still there with a Jamacian twist. Agreed the free hello to the locals night was great. Shame its the only surviving pub but good luck to them.

The new owners are charming people especially as the bar was set so high by Fred. They've kept the previous staff which is great, especially Jack who has kept the bar and the ales at a standard the locals are happy with.
Lots to pay for with no Chalk Pitt or Rainbow and the Royal Oak in Barcombe not cutting the mustard so the catchment for the Blacksmiths is much larger than for most pubs.
The new owner / chef Fitz has been serving up some great quality Caribbean food and I'm sure if standards are upheld then reputation will grow. It's good to see a pub doing well!
