I think the Tourist Information shop is becoming redundant actually. It is a prime retail shop in a terrific location. probably over staffed with part timers. All these enquiring questions on here lead me to think no one uses it anyway - only to ask where the public conveniences are hidden away or more obvious silliness like where is the Castle ! Maybe a small booth could be rented in Tesco's or Waitrose eh ? Preferably free of charge so we ensure they are 'doing their bit' for community spirit in these tough times. Then rent out 187 High Street, to a multinational burger chain or maybe coffee set up. They both do free wifi !! Just an idea.

The Tourist Information shop is just for tourists isn't it?
Do they have a website?
They should probably team up with this one, Webbo have you talked to them?

The Tourist information office people are very nice but their hands are pretty much tied. If you go in to ask about B&Bs you'll come away with the impression that there are something like four in town. The fact is that they can only tell you about businesses who choose to register with Visit Britain, which is the government quango promoting tourism in the UK. Most of us small B&Bs can't afford to do that, and frankly don't need to either. So you won't find our Lewes B&B booklet on the shelves there, and the first four B&Bs that come up on Google don't even exist for them.

The Tourist office is a joke. Closes at 1pm on Saturday and shut on Sunday - just when the tourists arrive.
Most pubs have free wifi, btw.

Agree with Nick - a total joke - it's not open when there are most tourists in the town! It never has been.
What!? District council employees work on a Sunday - oh no we can't have that - might be what the public actually needs!
