Not many cheap B&Bs around Lewes Morten. Put 'Dubois B&b Lewes' into google - I stayed there once, beautiful house, bit away from the town centre though.

As a retired operator in the leisure industry I do wonder if those giving opinions on businesses have personally stayed or used the premises or whether it is what they heard from a third party. Idle gossip can be very damaging to a business and should only be repeated if based on a level of personal knowledge so that you know it to be accurate.

Whats wrong with Shelleys? Only the destruction of the once lovely garden and the fact it's in receivership. Other than that nothing!

That it is receivership in itself means little, literally thousands of companies/individuals have done so over the years many of whom have come out of it successfully. What is very important is the reason why they are in that situation. If it due to poor menagement then they have themselves to blame but very often it is due to other circumstances.
A friend of mine had a pub in South-West London. A substantial amount of his custom came from two 22 storey office blocks immediately opposite his premises. The company re-located to Liverpool and within 6 months his business went bust. Not his fault, simply that his business could not withstand that level of loss of income.

Check out www.lewesbandb.co.uk which lists several B&Bs in and around Lewes - Castle Bank Cottage is run by Angela Wigglesworth, one of the founders of the group, and Dubois is also there. Lots of choice, wherever you want to be!
