What do we want Maria Caulfield to address and focus on locally ?
My list includes:
the planning application for the Phoenix estate
The reopening of the West beach at Newhaven and possible destruction of Tide Mills by port authority
The appalling train line to Lewes and kick starting to campaign to get an Uckfield link
Fracking

Crikey: I agree with Paul Newman. Leaving Europe would be absolutely monumental folly.

Fracking: I think we already know she's in favour. Is it cynical to wonder whether a lot of her support came from big landowners who might think they'll be rerunning Dallas here in Sussex? (Will there be a shower scene, do we think, when they announce it was all a dream?)

West Beach and Tide Mills I fear is a lost cause: amenity vs big business...

Trains: well we know that the Conservatives think that subsidising public transport isn't top of the agenda since it's all supposed to be delivered by the market. Apart from HS2, obviously, and if that goes ahead do you really think they'll be tinkering with Sussex commuter lines where their vote is rock solid anyway?

Two of her top six priorities are protecting our green spaces and standing up for our villages, so how could she not be against fracking? :-|

I also think leaving the EU would be a disaster but think that Cameron's game is to get a good deal using the referendum as the threat. A dangerous game, but I think he'll suceed. Good, as I think the UK needs to be a strong partner in a reformed Europe and should be in the lead in determining its future.

A small revelation for me is that I find that the Tories are the only party I'd trust to handle the sessecion of Scotland from the Union. Unless the SNP falls apart (and this is not unlikely) this could be a factor in the next election. If it is I'd expect a Tory landslide, whatever they do in the next five years. :-(

Well Sq , like tuition fees, subsidizing trains (and especially commuter lines) is redistribution form the poor to the middle-class.
On Europe. It is imperative that right wing voices are loud on this or it will seem like the a Guardian cause and that would be a terrible mistake

The issues which Maria Caulfield plans to address locally have been well covered by her when she has knocked on doors over the last 18 months, debated with her opponents and which have been explained in tens of thousands of leaflets which have been delivered through letterboxes throughout the Constituency. Just watch now and you will see that she is going to be 'batting' for Lewes which, I am afraid, Norman lost sight of for too long.

Train link from Lewes to Uckfield should be nbr 1 priority. Infrastructure investment creates jobs which generate taxes and cuts benefit payments. The only downside for the govt is that if we all took the train we wouldn't pay so much duty on private car usage.
As for knocking on doors and leaflets, I never heard or saw a thing.....

I doubt she'll address anything locally, unless it furthers her career and makes her look good to the conservative bigwigs. It will be her agenda, not ours.

I suspect she'll mostly ignore the townsfolk of Lewes and appeal to the rural voters that elected her.
