Anyone know of a velux window repairer in the area who doesn't rip you off? Ours doesn't seem to be fitted correctly and the rain's getting into the plasterwork. Or do all loft windows leak a bit?

Velux are very reliable and will not leak at all. It is likely that yours has either been incorrectly installed or the flashings are damaged or missing. Contact the person who fitted it and get them to carry out the repair. Failing that, any carpenter, roofer or general builder will sort it out. Get them to give you a price and if you think it is too much, get a second price for comparison.

NPP was right - the flashing hadn't been put on (they were hidden in the window workings - uh?) Cheers to Rooferman for the recommendation!
The only negative thing to mention was the incessant keeping a look-out for the boys in blue trying to slap a ticket on their van. I'd hate to be a tradesman in this around here. How can the council keep it up? That parking scheme is going to kill this place.
