No choice really. Whole of Japan is subject to quakes. They have no raw materials at all so Nukes were a cost effective solution to buying imports of Oil, Gas and Coal.

My nephew in New Zealand, he lives in Napier North Island, in the Fire and Rescue Service has been in Christchurch since the day of the earthquake, was sent home for 4 days on Friday and on his return has been put on a plane for Japan to set up a communication base for the team that will arrive from NZ. Him any many other personel from around the world, including the UK, are to be admired for what they do. Has to be very stressful.
