It's utter chaos. Lots of talk over the years about doing something about it but no action; the last I heard they were pricing three 'options', about two years ago. I think the reason nothing gets done about it is that for some reason it gets lumped together as an issue with the weak bridge, and anything involving Network Rail is never exactly a swift process. Whatever the reason, if someone is hurt or killed down there, they and the Council(s) will be culpable.

Quite agree YCM. Both outside the station and at the 5-way junction just further along at the foot of the hill are major danger spots. It's ludicrous that a fortune gets spent on big signs saying 'Danger of Drowning' next to the 1cm deep Winterbourne stream, and trees get cut down daily because of the hazard of falling leaves, yet nothing gets done about real and obvious dangers!

Yes, you take your life in your hands crossing that road. Between the taxis turning 180 degrees and cars suddenly stopping to drop people off, it's a hazard. Why isn't anything done?

as like at the ashcombe roundabout, especially leaving lewes onto the a27, a decent set of arrows to indicate how to get in and out would be helpful to some drivers. altho how to deal with the armada of taxis is a different matter.
