This is nothing to do with ESCC/LDC. It's privately operated parking. They used clamp you, then when that was banned (thanks to Norman Baker) they invoiced everyone (IT'S NOT A FINE). Now it's a Pay & Display, and if you go 1 minute over your allotted time they invoice you for overstaying.
They're parasites. Caveat emptor.

Quite simple Xplorer2. You don't go over your time. Why is it everyone elses fault apart from the person who committed the "offence"
The bays are easily recognised, i WALKED past them the other day and I say P&D written by each bay. I thought to myself, "that means Pay and display"
Good effing god there are some seriously thick people around.
STOP BLAMING OTHER PEOPLE FOR YOUR MISTAKES OR GENERAL LACK OF COMMON SENSE

I presume these are the same kind of people who habitually park in disabled bays. "Oh, I didn't notice the markings."
Or perhaps they are unwilling to take responsibility for their own actions.
You got a parking ticket, pay it, or don't. Either way this is not a big deal.

Spot on old bike. Getting pretty p1$$ed off with this blame culture we're living in. If you f**k up, take the hit and don't do it again. Sooooo simple.

I did see that it was P&D, and I did pay for an hour, but didn't use it all. The letter I got states I was recorded as being there between 15.14 and 15.58 so nowhere near an hour. If course, this was 3 weeks ago, so I don't have the ticket any more to prove it. How very convenient for them. Still, suppose it's my fault somehow, eh Landlorter!

Hi Leila, yes that s right, people on here are a strange bunch, but its Lewes i surpose , the point just was that the two end bays should be marked like the disabled bays which are very clear but then i surpose they would not get any fines of people would they landporter!

I'm amazed that people from outside the town will drive in, see how many cars there are parked everywhere and not find it suspicious that a handful of theoretically really convenient parking spaces right in the middle of town are empty.

Also I couldn't believe that the car park out the back of the precinct was completely full at 8pm last night, when I used to live in Cliffe High Street it was always completely empty after 6pm. The Travelodge must be doing a roaring trade but I can't imagine what all these people are doing visiting Lewes on a Thursday evening in February.

When they paint 'Pay and display' in big letters across the entrance to that area, and put a ticket machine in there, it is not unexpected for people to assume that the parking spaces between the painting on the road and the ticket machine are in fact pay and display? Why would you even think, let alone spend time trying to find out, that two of those spaces still might not be pay and display? It is deception, pure and simple.

If I happened to support them I would stop until the £60 was paid for by my standing orders to them. And I would drum up some publicity via Local TV News.

I have noticed the parking charge at £1 per hour is considerably cheaper than the car park next door. Surely that makes the owners a nice bunch of people .

I got a ticket for parking in the permit only bays without a permit. I found the signs confusing as neither of the P signs refers to permits AND the Brc (?) (permit) bays. One refers to the permit only bays but doesn't say where it's referring to and the other only refers to the pay and display bays. The writing on the ground also only refers to pay and display parking. I accepted the risk of the higher charge and appealed via the popla site which is extremely user friendly and won the appeal on the basis that ops hadn't provided evidence that I had no permit. The signage IS confusing in my opinion and there is no grace period either which I believe is contrary to the bpa regs.
