I run the gauntlet here, but wanted to record thanks to the parking folks. My son was taken into hospital unexpectedly over the Christmas break. Leaving our car in the Needlemakers Car Park and unable to access it due to keys being at the hospital and away from Lewes. When I called and explained the situation, it was clearly passed on and by the time we returned home there were no tickets on our car. Taking some of the stress out of a difficult situation is much appreciated.

That's a lovely story, Fox. If you haven't already I hope you'll write to thank the staff there. I also hope your son is fully recovered.

I had a similar experience. My partner gave birth in the front room 2 years ago (planned) but it took a while and in that time I'd (understandably) been given a ticket. My appeal resulted in a cancelled fine and best wishes from the parking team. Always good to see humanity.

Fabulous Tipex !
Some towns have realised the cost of parking has a negative effect on their high streets. Lewes made nearly £400,000 profit from the fees last year. Yet the pantechnicon still parks for hours outside the courts on the high street completely unchallenged, on an almost daily basis, for free. We can't manage 5 minutes.

Must have been an off day. Parking wardens and humanity, what an oxymoron.

Historian- don't forget the prison vans that seem to think they can reverse the length of Mount Place and Castle Ditch Lane without a banksman. There is always a second man in the cab: but his harris seems to be glued to the seat.

No idea but I bet £400k is nothing compared with what NSL trouser.
