I have never used the premium 0844 number on principle, but it took some work to get the alternative 01273 number.
The Ringmer surgery has always been available on 812338, despite publishing a 0844 number.
Most commercial companies who use premium rate numbers can be contacted using their local geographic numbers. Go to the "saynoto0870" website.
