hello people
I was wondering if anyone else has had a red ant invasion before and how they got rid?
we have emptied boxes and boxes of ant killer on the lawn and boiled water etc and rentokil can't help because their chemicals are no longer ok for lawns due to potential danger to birds (fair enough).
we have managed to rid on the surface but there is a red ant world now a few inches deep in the lawn.
help!!!!!!!

The thing to remember about ants is that they are complete sugar junkies. What I used to do when infested in the house was to put a couple of nearly finished jam jars at the bottom of the garden and they would concentrate their efforts on that. It does sound like they are swarming however - so should be over soon. Good luck

Mrs P I've had a similar problem...
Ants living in the walls of my house and they're really difficult to re-home or to get rid. When I tried pouring boiling water over them they seem to metamorphosize into bigger & stronger and a little angrier, smelly little blighters.
So this year I'm moving out for a month and leave them to it..
