@memory, I'm pretty sure you cant use 'exposure' to pay your mortgage, council tax or food shopping. If Viva don't pay, then they should be shamed into doing so. As an artist, getting your product under the noses of thousands of people, for free is worth the equivalent of many hundreds of pounds of advertising revenue which would otherwise have to be paid for. Galleries take upwards of 60% off an artist when they sell their work, partly because they also spend tens of thousands on websites and promotions the artist would not otherwise be able to afford.
