it seems that the flood victims of the north west are experiencing a problem with looting similar to Lewes in 2000. The police must crack down hard on the callous criminals involved. Speaking of the police and looting, who recalls the case of the then Sussex chief constable's son attempting to avoid arrest for looting by diving into the Ouse? He was safely fished out but, surprisingly, never charged. I cannot think why not! the story was published in the northern editions of the Guardian, but, again surprisingly, not in any of the southern papers. it is amazing what you can remember when you are old, but in touch!

By the power of the internet - it was reported that some people allegedly "robbed " a skip that was full of damaged property outside a flooded house. In Lewes. I rest my case.
