That's nothing to do with them - they aren't working on behalf of the DVLA. I work at a local court and I can assure you that you've nothing to worry about, as long as you get a new disc as soon as you can.

Also we can report un-taxed vehicles, but it is only reporting to the dvla. If there files say you have tax you don't get fined.
We don't actually fine people for having no tax, just report it.
