It has been announced that the lines Lewes area and Seaford Line will be closed again or 4 days Thursday 28th November until Sunday 1st December 2019. Remember the lines were closed for 4 days in March 2019 and the work was not completed. That means line closed twice instead of once with all the costs for buses and disruption to passengers doubled. It was stated in March 2019 that the line closures would mean signal boxes at Lewes and Newhaven would be closed but they remained in use because the planned work was not completed

Yes, at the time Maria Caulfield wrote me a long email telling me what a wonderful job Network Rail were doing and how we would benefit from the improvements - trouble is, she believes everything they say.

Another piece to add to this item. In the original press release in connection with the revised signalling system it was stated a turnback siding would be installed to permit additional diverted services when the Brighton Line is closed. I took this to be new track so that diverted trains can be recessed and let other trains pass. Nothing was done and although Network Rail are claiming more facilities for diverted services all that is available is trains running Brighton to London via Lewes will have the option of reversing on 2 lines instead of 1. Not the great improvement they
originally planned so it would appear there has been a cut back

BN26 - You cannot put a train with passengers in a siding - a ‘turnback siding’ makes no sense. I also notice they have removed the track from the one engineer’s siding (country end of platform 1).
