I was fined parking at Laura Ashley even though I was picking up an order from there. I paid the £70 fine but have now been sent a late payment charge for £100 from a debt recovery company. I wondered if anyone else has had this happen and do you know if they can enforce the threats of court action/ccj if I don't pay?

This is an age old problem; at least these guys aren't allowed to clamp you any more. There are signs all over the place warning you that Laura Ashley don't own those spaces...

Anyway. Here's a guide which tells you what you can/should do.

As a senior citizen on a state pension , the fact that just parking your car in the wrong place can cost you£170 just appalles me that would be our weeks pension gone !!!! Which is probably the reason we shop in Uckfield

OK, here's what you do.
Dont pay. Dont answer any letter or speak to anyone, ignore every letter that comes through your door from them no matter how threatening. They will stop because the law is on you side.
I have not paid a single fine from these jokers.
No consent, no contract.
Stay strong and ignore it completely.

If the signs are there and visible then by parking you are deemed to have accepted and entered into a contract.
