Which part of the message “Stay at Home” don't people understand? Yesterday there was a BBQ on Hove beach, crowds of people strolling in the sunshine next to the Thames at Richmond, and more local to me, kids playing football and others in the skate park.
I trust everyone on this forum is behaving.

Were the people at the BBQ not from the same social group and able to pass the virus to others? Describe exactly what you meant by crowds of people? Were any small groups close enough to others to pass on the virus? How close did the 'footballers' or skateboarders get to each other? Surely the real message should be to be sensible and don't have contact with other social groups. It seems to be interpreted as don't have fun and tell other people what to do. There is no reason to assume that any of the people drove or were in any danger of helping to transmit the virus.

Nevillman, when you have such an instruction it applies to everyone. It is not negotiable. It is not optional. There are no exceptions. If everyone thinks, “its ok, I’m not hurting anyone” then everyone will be out!

Its not acceptable and is selfish, but I guess if you live in a busy city centre with little to no outdoor space, it must be harder than living in Lewes with lots of outdoor space, less densely populated etc. But yea, its sadly not the time to be sunbathing by a river with a picnic and listening to live music.
This whole lockdown is inevitably going to be a lot harder for some than it is others, but its ultimately right that the authorities disperse and clamp down on these things for the greater good. Its just going to be very challenging on the publics mental health, and I'm not sure finger-wagging is going to help anyone either.
Its a pity the UK government couldn't have rushed through medicinal cannabis, and just distributed it out to the population to chill them all out in these challenging times.

It’s funny how when a news article is talking about how there are so many people out that they alway use a long focal length to make everyone in focus and give the false impression they are closer together.

Of course they are Sleevie, otherwise your comfortable self opinion would be threatened. Some of us dim oafs out here are faintly suspicious of governments, probably because we are so stupid that we think Elvis lives in a haystack in East Chiltington. Be that as it may, we might think that being outside in the fresh air one stands less chance of catching the plague than being six feet away from someone in a shop, which is necessary to avoid starving. We may also have noticed that the information given in the media is, and this comes as no surprise, vague, sensationalized and spun enough to make you dizzy. Some people even live under the delusion that our civil rights have been slowly eroded since the war on "terror"began and imagine that a pattern is emerging. Some people are beyond help!

Maybe people aren’t getting the message that it is not only for their benefit but for the benefit of others. So far as I can gather, Social Distancing is to stop or slow down the spread of the virus. I am sure that many of those flouting the “advice” are actually quite caring people in normal times.

I'm just staggered by the number of people in the town who don't thank others for pausing / detouring to keep away from them. Or walk around glued to their phone that they have no idea they'd walk right into you if they weren't shouted at. Or a family group that spreads out to use all the available space in a street, causing others to stop or move. Or stop just round a blind corner so that you have no idea they're there as you approach. Or just block somewhere like Wiley's Bridge with no consideration for people waiting either side for the coast to be clear. Or come charging out of somewhere like Wyborn's and don't even bother looking left and right to see who might be approaching. I think I'm going to start carrying an air-horn, to try and break through their self-absorbed cloud of oblivion.

And as a servile little drone you believed your boss? Managers need workers. Most managers, as most people know, have the brains of a flea and cause more problems than they are worth.

I'm saying what I'm saying Nev, we've been through this before. Whenever you try to translate my message you always misunderstand it and insert your own preconceptions. I actually spend a lot of time genuinely trying to understand what you are saying Tom. I certainly try to avoid preconceptions but have another look at your bill gates post and try to see it from the point of view of someone who has no idea what it is saying. What are you accusing him of? What does he generally do with profits? What has he got to do with vaccinations? What do you think he is up to?

If you have something useful and interesting concerning the virus and Bill gates and think you can say it on a way that someone else might be able to understand it I see no reason why you shouldn't Tom. You might also need to be able to deal with people asking you for more information, clarification and people disputing your point and or evidence. I'm not sure you can deal with the last bit without questioning the integrity of the person who challenges your point. I hope you are not looking for permission to post though in which case don't bother. This site isn't for 'snowflakes' which although you once told me you weren't you haven't actually proved.

Nev, try googling Bill Gates polio vaccinations in India, you'll see that the majority of polio cases are from the vaccination strain not the wild one. Our Bill is the major private donor to the WHO, so you could say he has influence over them by way of stopping their funding if they don't do what he wants. There's such a can of worms behind his media facade which can be found with a bit of research.

Returning to the original thread as opposed to all this muppetry bickering and pathetic waffle, which bit of stay at home are people struggling to grasp. I take 45 minutes of cycling exercise every night after 9 and use tracks bridleways and other means of isolating as much as possible. Yet I encounter groups of girls in Nevill Road, groups of lads on the gallops, shifty looking 'erberts covered in hoodies meeting in Spital Road. I see conversations between youths at open windows (Winterbourne Mews) Groups sitting chatting and smoking in Brooks Road Playground. I have had to go out during the day just once. Paddock playground is shut yet families with kids were there using the play equipment. Over the weekend local neighbours have had visits from family members not resident etc. etc.
Lewes has far too many idiots as I'm sure many others have other examples, these are just some of mine. I bet none of those breaking the lockdown regulations will be quite as happy when, and I think it will be soon, somebody beats the living crap out of a few of these morons. When it happens I know which way I will have been looking.
