This was posted on the Argus website at 4.15pm:
Cuilfail tunnel has been closed after debris was reported to have fallen from its roof.
Both sides of the A26 tunnel outside Lewes were closed at around 3.45pm this afternoon after reports of dangerous debris hanging down from the tunnel's ventilation fans.
The northbound side of the tunnel has now reopened but the southside is expected to remain closed for at least another 30 minutes while traffic officers clear the debris.

Reuters wouldn't rely on twitter and this forum, which are full of rumour, conjecture and opinion, for their news reporting !
