Hi, I apologize to enter the forum so abruptly and from far away. I and my wife are from Italy and will move in the UK in september to work permanently at the Universities in Falmer Campus. We fell in love with Lewes and would like to rent a house. Our 7-yr daughter will be in primary 3 by then and we spoke with two schools (Western road and Wallands; we would like to avoid religious schools) and would like to rent a house (before we'll sell ours in Milan so we can buy one) nearby to be in those schools catchment area. I realize it's not easy. Anybody has an advice or can help?

hi there,
just wanted to say we are an English family with a seven year old-moving to Eastbourne end of august after 6 years living and working in the Varese area. We cant help you on Lewes except we know its a lovely place steeped in history. Email me if you would like to get in touch. ciao.

Renting in Wallands? Good luck with that although you might get lucky and find something in Neville for something approaching a reasonable price. If you're planning to buy a place then I hope what you're selling is worth a ton because that's prime territory for Londoners moving down here who are willing to pay twice what the house is worth to commute from here. One thing Lewes isn't short of though is estate agents so shop around a bit before you commit to anything.

Hi Italiano,
Google the rightmove and teamprop websites - I won't put the urls in, because they might get removed. You can look for rental property in Lewes using these. For private rentals, look at the Friday-Ad website. There's not a huge amount about at the moment, but good luck in your search.

Email chris oakley. He has a large selection of over priced dumps that haven't shifted for months and are not likely to as winter approaches. Start off your opening bids at around 25% lower than the asking price. He'll break your hand off!
