It depends how it's done. Toasting bread over a Tesco disposable barbecue isn't exactly getting kids reconnected with nature (I won't name and shame the school). It should be a combination of teaching skills that we've lost, like plant recognition, needlework, fire making etc, plus a chance for mucking about building dens and damming streams.
