Are there still 3 sub scout groups in town, and does anyone think one group is better than any of the others? My nearly 6 year old would like to join soon.

Having just returned from cub camp I can thoroughly recommend Barcombe's cub scout group, but I guess that is not too much help to you.
As for the minimum age being 8, kids younger than this go to Beavers.

Sixth Lewes is a popular group, used to be sea scouts once, but now they are regular scouts. You may need to get your child's name down asap as last I heard there was a waiting list for all three sections, Beavers (from age 6), Cubs and Scouts. They used to rent a hall on the Neville, but now they use their own building at the end of Ham Lane.
