And why not? It costs a lot of money to put on a display.

Are they dangerous then, I'd never have thought it, the way they're treated in Lewes.

Goodness me Mavis don't try and crack a joke on here in case you offend the over sensitive caring sharing liberal leftie minority who make such a noise in Lewes.
Good night is Bonfire Night in Lewes - very un PC something I admire very much but I sometimes wonder why the Lewes Guardianistas don't get up in arms with rage on behalf of somebody. Must remind myself to get all uppity when they march past my perch by St Pancras with nasty notices saying burn the Catholics or something - though on the other hand I might just laugh, cheer loudly for Guy Fawkes and enjoy the spectacle but not enjoy being jostled at regular intervals by boozed up hooray henry student types with no manners
I note the Old Bill are already trying to put a damper on it by suggesting it's for Lewes residents only and warning people of the dire consequences of owning a firework.
Perhaps they don't like it because it means they have to do some work for a change

Can't you just watch the Waterloo display for free if you stand on Phoenix Causeway or Maybe a Way or the riverside path?

And good luck to them for charging - why should skinflints get it for nothing.

You could stand on the golf course and watch all of them for free. But it is only £3 and will help with Waterloo's fireworks for next year. Or why not put some money in a collecting pot instead?
