A vigilant Street Warden and member of the public gave chase. A male youth was
stopped behind the Law Courts and District Police officers from Hailsham and
Lewes found another two boys, thought to be connected.

A quantitly of cash has been recovered and one fo the youths has been remanded
in custody.

We don''t keep youths in custody unless it is the last resort. These 3
individuals have 21 impending cases stacking up against them and even with bail
conditions that should prevent them offending they continue to do so. I am
really hoping that this will demonstrate to them that we will not tolerate such
anti-social behaviour.

I thank the member of public and the Street Warden for getting involved as
without their help we may not have recovered the money.

Well after the first 21 offences they were told in a very stern voice not to do it again. I imagine after this latest they'll end up with an ASBO, which is basically a piece of paper asking you not to do it again.
