It's that time again... anyone recommend an expert on woodburners? Ideally someone who won't tell me I have a gas flue fitted up the chimney.

I bought one from Bolney Stoves for £1300 and then had a problem getting the liner down the chimney due to my chimney going into a very small gap at one point. We asked Bolney Stoves if they would exchange for a smaller woodburner and they said that they sell on a cash and carry basis so nor refunds or exchanges. I wouldnt recommend them and their aftercare at all!!

Had ours done with Home Heat, pretty good, they will haggle on price as well.

Don't do it yourself, unless you are going to pay building regs inspector to come out and sign it off. Hetas reg installers can notify building control and give you the cert themselves. If you self fit and don't get it certified, your buildings insurance are unlikely to pay up when you burn your house down and they discover your DIY effort. Annoyingly, it is very simple to fit yourself and unlikely to cause a fire.

I'm not sure you should get too worked up about this. There are many woodburning stoves fitted years ago when flues were not required by regs that have been working with no problems for decades.

The problem you're most likely to have is black stuff bleeding though your chimney breast and staining the paint.... but even that's vanishingly unlikely.

The other problem you might get is carbon monoxide bleeding through your chimney breast and killing you. Also very unlikely but a lot higher impact than stained wallpaper if it happens!
Try Bradley Stoves in Horsham.

Unless you're very confident (and competent) get someone to install it. I'd also recommend multifuel, as I find that our stove is too hot with just wood.
