I noticed that all the road markings around the war memorial are gleaming with fresh white paint, although they hadn't looked especially worn or grubby to me.
I'd have thought that repairing some of the dreadful potholes in the roads around town was a bit more important than unnecessary repainting of white lines, but the highways dept clearly has different priorities from me.

Got to make sure they use the budget before the end of the fiscal year, or have a reduction next year. Common sense doesn’t come into it.

Wouldn’t it be a good idea to spend the remaining budget on things that actually make a difference though.
I guess someone somewhere thought the white lines would impress someone who mattered to them.

Lots of unnecessary resurfacing work on A26 as well. Lots of thumbs up for Marco but we're powerless to do anything, it's so frustrating.

If the County Council were to dig up all tye speed bumps and put them into the pot holes you would end up with smoother roads.

@MallingR Why not a Lewes Monaco? Something to rival Bonfire, the Lewes Town Ecotech Rally. The Ecotech bit is to avoid too much green protest. So it would be like the Monaco grand prix but instead of F1 cars we'd have the latest electric / hydrogen / hot-air / anyothertech vehicles in a battle for speed around the streets of Lewes. The whole town would be closed over 2 days - a practice day then the race day. Unlike Bonfire we'd encourage all and sundry to descend on town, with tickets slighty cheaper than Monaco but free for residents nat.

I like the circuit idea! Would nee to be circa 2•5 miles long with start/finish on the high street, up near the Pelham where it’s wider ( so can accommodate the pit area) what would be your chosen track??
I know it’s nonsense but as most things are on here....

County Hall car park would make an excellent pit
area: enter via the twitten by the church, leave via the Black Horse traffic lights, plenty of room for the media centre, food concessions etc.
Could we include a race or two for electric motorbikes?

Let’s just bid for a full MotoGP race! I’d love to see Dovi howling past the Rights of Man!
