What a shame the weather is so awful for the grand opening of the Pells pools today....I was in there every day when young and it holds a very special place in my heart.I just hope the weather this year is kinder than last years'.

many happy days spent down the pells in the long, hot summer of '76. Shame they took the springboard out really.
It is, alas, far too cold for me these days but the kids love it.

Many fond memories of the Pells pool from the sixties onwards. Myself & my brother trudging round the pells at every day with our friends & carrying tractor tyre inner tubes bigger than any of us. My children & now our granchildren have fully enjoyed this wonderful facility in all weathers - brilliant! :-)

I was thinking the same Madge. It was bad in the park next to the pool but never inside the walls.
Another memory is Val and her ice cream van parked by the bit of cut out wall !!! Is she still around ?

On a very wet and cold day, Kaddy's cautious long range forecast for the season was that the weather would 'probably be better'. Record numbers of children then jumped into the Pool with her and King Neptune. The Mayor, looking a little nervous said he didn't want to get his chain wet. Let's hope it's a better summer than last year. It would be difficult to be any worse.
