Hello,
My wife and I just moved to Lewes and we've already met a ton of great people out and about. We have two young kids (a 2 year old and a newborn), and I keep hearing about various events around town for parents of young kids. However, I'm a naturally disorganised person and I keep forgetting the majority of what I hear!
I work during the week, but would love to get out and meet some other parents in a social setting on the weekends. Does anyone have any recommendations of local going-ons?

Depends on your age bracket.
Parents of young kids fall in to 2 categories in Lewes. You've either got parents in their late 30s to 40s with toddlers & babies, or you've got parents in their late teens to early 20s with toddlers & babies. Depends on the social status. And the parents in their late 30s/40s don't really want to mix with the parents in their late teens/20s. Too wide a social gap to bridge. So it depends where you fit in.....

N.B. I should have added that likewise parents in their late teens/early 20s don't want to be hanging out with older parents in their 40s! Works both ways. There's an enormous culture difference between parents of young kids in Lewes and it perfectly highlights the cross section of the population in Lewes as a whole.

Merlin Milner may be able to help. You should be able to contact him via the Town Council website. He also comes on here occasionally.

There is a dad's group (run by Merlin) that meets in either the Snowdrop or Elephant and Castle on a Saturday morning (officially 10am, people are normally there by 10.30am).

Age range of the kids at the moment is 6 months through to 6 years. Age range of the dads is late 20s to early 50s.

Hang on a minute, which pub am I supposed to go to then? The snowdrop or the elephant & castle?! What if I'm standing in one, and the dad's group are in the other?!

Sorry, forgot to include that it doesn't get announced until Friday normally (by text). I've asked though and will post when I get a response.

It's also posted to a rarely used Facebook group called "Lewes Dad's Group".

Love the open invitation! It's great to see a space where people can freely share their thoughts. Looking forward to hearing... more
