Wash Day Blues

This is really dull, but does anyone know what you do/anyone to contact when your washing machine packs up? It's not old, but it's not new either - so isn't under warrantee. Tried a plumber but he said he wouldn't or couldn't do it. Seems a shame just to take it up the tip.
It used to blow the house fuse on 60 degree wash, so we stopped that, then after a while it didn't like 40, now it won't work on 30.

We used to get a bloke over from Seaford, can't recall his name (something like Steve White) but I'll have a word with Mrs Smiler and see if she can remember.
He was very good btw.

TDA - Last year I had a free replacement TV from Comet's even though it was 2 years and 5 months old. The fault it developed should not have in that space of time. I got a report stating that and, after much argument, they backed down and supply a brand new TV. Legislation has for some years protected the consumer against goods and products that are not "fit for purpose" irrespective af the original guarantee having expired. Ask the expert why the machine has given you these problems, they sound as if they have existed for some time, it may be a fault that should not have occured and you will be entitled to a replacement machine of a free repair. Worth a try.

Last time I needed help with a washing machine I found a nice chap via the Approved Traders list on www.buywithconfidence.gov.uk Also found a really useful diagnostics website on how to find the problem and fix it yourself www.washerhelp.co.uk and letsfixit.co.uk

Think it's over 3 years old...
Have gone with CP Domestics, but a week's wait though - stinky!
Once again, what a ruddy good bunch of people on this chuffingly lovely forum.

If you can get to the filter at the front on the machine, then see if its blocked. Put out towels first as there will be some water coming out aswell
