Want to be School of the Week?

To bring the Club and local schools even closer together, Lewes FC has started a new programme called 'School Of The Week'.

The Club already does lots of coaching sessions and after-school Clubs through its Community Scheme so wanted to extend this work further and actively encourage kids and their parents to come to a match at the Dripping Pan.

As part of the School Of The Week programme, the selected school gets a visit from First Team Manager Simon Wormull who talks to the children about what happens at a match and what it's like to be a footballer for a job. The school also gets to supply some matchday mascots who accompany the players on to the pitch on matchday.
There's always a competition too with prizes and the school gets a number of free entry tickets for parents to be able to accompany their kids too. Lewes FC already operates a Kids Go Free policy for under 16s, so they don't pay anyway.

The first School Of The Week is South Malling CE Primary School who will be visiting the Dripping Pan today for the home game versus Lowestoft.

Any schools interested in being a School Of The week should email either [email protected] or Darren Ford at the Community Scheme on [email protected].

I wish they had run this sort of thing when I was at school. It sounds like a great scheme. The kids get to chat to a former pro footballer, they and their parents get a memorable day and it's all free. The club gets prospective new supporters. Win Win all round.
