If we dispense with Trident and other deterrents, it will be no use complaining to Corbyn & Co. when invading Russian soldiers come up your garden path to rape your wife, daughter or mother.

The doomsday scenarios are such an awesome way of justifying a multibillion pound per year expenditure. New Zealanders and Peruvian females all wear chastity belts to stop invading Russian soldiers from raping them in the case of such an eventuality. Their citizens of Peru and New Zealand have been crying out for decades to their governments to get nukes....i'm sure they appear in every manifesto for every party there.

Trident is 31 billion plus 10 billion contingency....at the moment. Perhaps we could just have 2 submarines that actually work and save 20 billion then have no cuts programme and some spare cash to pay down the deficit? Solved!

With this tech the only nations not able to spot a nuclear reactor trawling the sea are not an actual threat.

I really enjoy seeing Sussex Jimís post, itís a comical reminder of how deeply entrenched in the past Tory voters live. Tell us Jim, with your 41 billion bulwark against the Bolshevik terror in place, how are you going to protect our women from all those fuzzywuzzies the government keep letting in?

I once read an anthropological explanation for right and left wingers, it said theyíre both vestiges of pre-civilisation tribal communities, where a body of hyper-paranoid members actually benefitted the groupís survival chances. The community would also need a body of members similarly predisposed towards looking after the welfare and development of individuals within that community. Sadly, evolution canít keep up with advances in civilisation, the former now being more than redundant, they actually stifle human development and progress. The only threat of danger to societies around the world come from other paranoid right wingers around the world. That predisposition is, and always has been, fairly evenly balanced and isnít an inherited trait, if it were the weaker one would have been eliminated in the millennia since they had any survival value. Our DNA evidently just randomly assigns it.

All that aside, weíre all forgetting that leading Conservative ministers and donors work in the arms industry, this isnít just an investment in redundant weaponry, itís a 41 billion tax handout to a handful of people who have made an incredibly successful career out of managing the Toriesí inherent corruption. These are the people that rely on the Sussex Jims of this world being terrified of Russians doing something that they think is light years beyond the capacity of the Russiansí perceived political structure.
