Went along for lunch yesterday and my feeling is that, yet again, another new opening in Lewes has got it wrong. Decent coffee - although no better than Bun and Bean or Ground - but horrendously overpriced and indifferent sandwiches and hot main courses, long queues and a general sense of chaos. Of course, it was packed, because people want to go out for lunch on a Saturday. I dread to think what would happen if it was somewhere properly good at normal prices - presumably the queues would start at daybreak. It would be quite funny if it wasn't such a depressing state of affairs.

Painfully slow but that's what happens employing the teanagers with no experience. No sign of any managment. Shame given that there is simply nowhere else to get a coffee in Lewes.

High food prices for smallish portions and shame you have to join the queue again for more coffee or food. Definitely needs table service.

I would rather sit in my lovely kitchen or outside in my garden having a cheap, healthy, nutritious, homecooked lunch, than walk/drive into town. Breathe in traffic fumes. Stand in a queue, wait, wait, pay too much for mediocre, overpriced food that probably comes from a cash and carry, wait, sit in an overcrowded, noisy, poky room, wait and then finally eat. But then I am not trendy and hip.....

Have I hit a nerve? Haha...I love where I live-fields behind, hills in front and mortgage paid off, because I don't waste my money on "coffee" shops.....

@Slow: Your first sentence made sense. Employers are not prepared to invest in quality staff.
But- no where else to get a coffee?

The thumbs down will be proliferate but when they had their free coffee day I had the best tasting coffee of my life. I am not a connoisseur and I actually didn’t think there was much difference between one expensive coffee and another but this was truly noteworthy. House blend Moca. Flat white. I’ve been back for it takeaway twice and they give money off for having your own reusable cup. The haters can start in now, I’ve said my piece.

@ Colonel Mustard As someone who spends many a Saturday and Sunday trudging round Lewes, attempting to find somewhere decent to feed myself and my family, I would have loved the Trading Post to be good. Alas, the £7 bacon sandwiches and general sense of chaos has not made me wish to return.

Had a coffee there, it was lukewarm. Ordered tea for two, to arrive with our breakfast, girl said that wasn’t possible, something about their ordering system.. a colleague stepped in having overheard her embarrassing herself. Food arrived promptly, no cutlery, no tea, bloke looked surprised we ordered tea. Same small size pot for tea for two, as for one, but we got two cups. I queried this and a different girl said that’s correct but they ‘fill the pot up a bit more’ when it’s for two. She went and got us some more hot water, a tiny bottle of it. Another waiter guy filled the pot up for us properly at least. Ok place but not that impressed with some policies. Staff all seem lovely if a bit inexperienced.
