Those bankers

Here's a paragraph that sums up the scam perfectly. They must be laughing all the way to the bank. Manwhile, let's pick on someone claiming benefit.

'The taxpayer injected about £65bn into RBS and HBOS in share capital. Those shares are currently showing a loss of ¬£20bn. The overall cost to taxpayers is incalculably higher because we must now manage in a zombie economy with a crippled banking system that can't send credit to where it's needed. Yet rather than punish those responsible, the coalition has cut their taxes.'

And kept them paying tax in the UK.. Ask France how their Higher rate tax is panning out. Froggies are abandoning the country in the thousands. Also the 45p tax rate is STILL 5p higher than the last government. Whats the fuss?

The cost to tax-payers if there had been no bail-out would have been far far higher. Grow up.

On top of that Clifford, I notice from the BBC website that FSA are considering whether or not the jokers at HBOS who oversaw losses of 50 billion (not 50 million, 50 billion) should be told off and whether or not any steps should be taken to stop them from doing it again.
Super K, bankers don't pay taxes - their pay is sent directly to their offshore shell companies that provided their consultancy service. It doesn't really matter what the top rate is if they're going to wriggle out of income tax.

Don't you remember? Or perhaps you weren't born in 2009, judging by the intelligence of your posts.
No functional banking system.
Commerce unable to function.
Tax-payer's deposits lost.
Pension funds and local authority reserves gone.
Etc.
