Wasn't Sashimi meant to be organising a party?

How many of you remembered?

Yes, Spinster, you have an excellent, elephantine memory. Fortunately, perhaps, I failed to get enough support for what would have been a very wet occasion. Maybe later in the summer.
The Battle of Lewes established the first Parliament. Perhaps this is not the best time to be celebrating that either.

I believe the Battle of Lewes was also the first recorded use of heavy cavalry using lances. I remember seeing a documentary about it once, "Weapons that changed the world" or something. It made me feel quite bad that I'd lived here my whole life and knew very little about the event. Primary school trips to the castle and town model never really went into too much detail...

Martin Brown is repeating his really rather good Battle of Lewes walk tomorrow evening, meet 7pm at the station, to walk up through the town and onto the battlefield, should last about two hours. A small donation to CSBS would be greatly appreciated!

I really would like to go on that but it's Eurovision tomorrow. Is he doing it regulary? Also, what was the fuss all about? Did they fight over our Spinster's Spinster great-great-great-great-great-great Nan?

Thoroughly recommend any Martin Brown walks - I've been on a few - his enthusiasm for history and his passion for Lewes make him an excellent tour guide.
Unfortunately I cannot make todays walk - but I hope any of you that do go have a great time
