There is a lot of mobile phone theft in Lewes at the moment, had my phone stolen the other day in Boots. Police says it happens a lot around town unfortunately.

There's a particular scrote stealing phones and then asking for a small cash reward, (anywhere from between £100 and £20) to return them. He was down in the precinct this morning and has been the subject of several facebook posts in the last couple of days. Sometimes he has a female accomplice, sometimes he pimps her body out for a few quid and sometimes she works on her own doing the "I've lost my bus/train fare, can you help?" scam. A friend of mine took his picture but I think the police would say it would be too much hassle to bother trying to get him banged up.

There was a young man harassing people outside Aldi today, asking for money, he seemed to be picking out women and old folk.

@ closed borders......I think you'll find that this particular individual is Lewes born and bred and picked up his drug habit at one of our secondary schools. Don't tar those wonderful people like your Pakistani, corner shop owner, your Indian takeaway owner or your Lithuanian cleaner or Polish doctor with the same brush. This is a bloke who, for whatever reason, has either fallen through the essential safety net we all might need at some point or has chosen to fall by the wayside. He needs help or a prison sentence or somewhere between the two but don't try to say it's all down to "b*****y forriners".

Closed mind you have no concept of the problem, they do not need help because they do not want help, They will say anything they think you want to hear because the next deal is all that matters If you do not respond favourably then risk an earfull of obscenities And thats a Fact The best form of interaction with them is tell them to Jog on And thats another Fact

Love the open invitation! It's great to see a space where people can freely share their thoughts. Looking forward to hearing... more
