Does anyone know what is happening with the Old Ship pub on the A26 just outside of Lewes?

Being old, but in touch, I understand that it is to be an "antique" shop and tea room, run by the family who currently trade from the old Clark's jewellery shop on Cliffe Bridge. They have this shop on the market prior to their move.

I understand it is currently being refurbished by somebody who has recently acquired a franchise deal to open a McDonald's

There was a planning permission to allow the old bar/restaurant area to be converted to domestic use, but open a cafe/antique shop, as Oldbutintouch says, in the small bar area. Conversion activities happened, but not a lot of sign of the cafe opening.
It has definitely closed as a pub. However it still has class D use ( includes cafés) at least in theory.
If the cafe never opens, expect a certificate of lawful use application for conversion to a residence in about 3 years time.
