The fine is only going to get bigger (and each time they visit the bill will go up a lot)... If you do want a fight, I suggest you start looking this stuff up, remove implied rights of access to the bailiff company and also get CCTV at your house (so you can record when they do and don't turn up - if they come with a "van" they can charge more for the visit so you need to start recording this stuff). PS, also get very friendly with the local police as they will be needed, and you'll need to know enough about this stuff to talk to the police and explain why a warrant isn't valid.
Suggest you pay the bill, it's a lot easier in the long run.

If the signs are legal (the right size and the right height) you are entering a legally binding contract by parking there, DVLA will give the company your details, the company can take you to court, and will win, you then pay an inflated amount or the court appointed bailiff can then seize assets, Police will assist them to enforce this. Yes I agree they are *probably* chancing it, but it's one thing to take the risk yourself, it's another thing entirely to give that out as general advice... Wtf are you going to pay the bill if your advice turns out to be duff?
