Brighton's Green Party must be so proud of their running of the City. Traffic crawling at 20 mph through mountains of sinking and rotting rubbish. Who would have thought the Green Party would have been so environmentally unfriendly ! Voters take note.

Agree with the 20mph nonsense. I drive an automatic and this speed selects a lower gear, hence increasing pollution and my costs!
The green party is not responsible for the mess (!) in Brighton, blame the previous parties in power for this and the current chief exec at Brighton.

I expect, The Old Mayor, that when the streets were piled high with stinking and rotting rubbish during Thatcher's reign you thought that she was doing the right thing and you were proud of her.

A sad indictment of education-for-all and proof that its not really worth the bother.

The 20mph came in for Lewes supported by just about all political parties and independents and if Brighton wasn't so tribal in it's politics it would have been supported by everyone there as well. The Green Party in Brighton introduced a living wage for all council staff too, something most low paid staff can only dream about elsewhere. Brighton isn't unique in having problems it is just lucky that they are offset by more positives despite biased reporting. Have a look at cities elsewhere in the country, be thankful Brighton still has libraries and funding for other important things, and take note voters.

As far as #10 is concerned,Sussex Jim,I wouldn't be so sure.Thick, persistant vapour trails from aircraft slowly fanning out to light haze in the sky led me to googling Geo-engineering and HAARP.Clouds,Jim but not as we know them! Sadly most people don't notice them and won't until the TV tells them to.

The biggest objection by many Brightonians to the 20mph speed zone, was the cost of the scheme at £1.5 million, which does seem to be an extravagant amount. In addition, while Brighton politics is partizan, I don't believe that is the primary reason why their was more acceptance in Lewes between the political parties and public for a 20mph scheme.
Much simply Lewes is a small town, with small roads and streets and a pedestrianised town centre - 20mph for Lewes is not illogical. Brighton is a city, with a very active city centre - it was always going to be more controversial.

Hi John,
Given that you are someone who clearly cares about poverty and rising housing costs in Lewes, I was very sorry to read your comment. Certainly it doesn't describe the Lewes District Green Party that I recognise.
If you wanted to contact me directly about the issue I would be very keen to listen to your concerns: [email protected]
