Hi everyone!
You seem a very friendly & helpful lot bunch judging by some of the threads I've read, so I'm hoping someone may be able to help me!
My greatgrandparents ran the Dorset Arms in Malling Street for a few years at the beginning of the 1900's and my great aunt and her husband ran The Rock, which was sadly pulled down years ago and which would have stood roughly in the area I think where the mouth of the tunnel is now. Question is, does anyone know where I can find any old photos of either of these pubs around the turn of the last century?
Can I say I am not a stranger to Lewes - I was born and lived the first 18 years of my life in Ringmer and worked in Lewes, first at the library on Albion Street at weekends and then at Forfars Bakery - but when it was on School Hill. My grandparents were married at Cliffe Church, my parents at Lewes Registry Office.....I am an East Sussex girl and proud of it!!!
Many thanks in advance!
Sarah

Try the museum next to the Castle. They have many photos of Lewes. Also there are some books like Lewes then and now Vols 1 and 2 etc

Thanks so much for your advice everyone. Unfortunately I live in Bedford now, so getting to Lewes is not an easy option, but I do visit my brother who lives in Uckfield from time to time so I could pop in to Lewes next time I'm down that way.
